Herbs are amazing plants to grow!
Their uses are supremely versatile in the realms of medicine and my personal favorite...food! Many of us live in urban dwellings such as apartments where we don’t have access to our own land. Due to this, sometimes we feel we can’t partake in the joy of growing our own food. Luckily, you don’t have to have a large space to enjoy growing your own culinary herbs!
Growing your own herbs is a beautiful act of sustainability...
You can grow and use as much or as little as you need. This prevents food and container waste, which is important when it comes to doing our part to lessen our carbon footprint.
My all time favorite herb to grow is basil. It’s extremely easy to grow from seed and it’s also hardy once it reaches maturity. The culinary uses of basil are wide reaching from pasta dishes to infused cocktails. This little green beauty has delicious impact!
Some of my other favorites are nasturtium, mint and thyme. These herbs are also easy to grow and germinate pretty quickly like basil. Nasturtium is an interesting herb because of its duality. You can eat the cute lily pad style leaves as well as the pretty flowers! They both have a peppery flavor and go well in yummy salads.
